Country Fresh Mushroom Company, formerly known as Wilson Mushroom Company, was established in 1925 and operated as a partnership until it was incorporated in Pennsylvania on August 12, 1960. By 1985 sales had reached 24 million pounds annually and Wilson had established a solid reputation among the trade by providing the highest quality products and service to our valued customers.
In September of 1985, the Company was sold to a group of local mushroom growers who had shipped their mushrooms to Wilson for many years. Rex Mushroom Company, another local mushroom distributor, also merged with Wilson and the combined Company began to market their products under the Country Fresh trade name. This combination resulted in a Company with annual sales over 20 million pounds under the Country Fresh label.
In 2001 Wilson changed its name to Country Fresh Mushroom Co. to make the name of the Company consistent with the label it was known for. Today our network of grower owners and contract growers produce over 50 million pounds per year and our base of fresh and quick blanched mushroom customers extends over 35 states throughout the Northeast, South and Mid-West regions of the U.S..
Since the beginning and continuing through our current exciting growth and change our mission at Country Fresh Mushroom Co. has remained steadfast; We are determined to be the preferred vendor for all mushroom products in our expanding market area.
