The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture (CAG) and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (CFCS) and offers many international study opportunities for undergraduates and graduates in the program. There are 40 faculty members, 32 staff members, 75 graduate students, and 234 undergraduate students.
Four research centers directly associated with the FSHN research activities include:
* Center for Designing Foods to Improve Nutrition (CDFIN)
* Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR)
* NASA Food Technology Commercial Space Center (NASA FTCSC)
* Center for Research on Dietary Botanical Supplements
Food Science Major
1. Food science and technology
This curriculum is approved by the Institute of Food Technologists. It is designed for students who wish to go to graduate or professional school or who are biotechnology scholars. Preveterinary preparation is available.
2. Food science and industry
This curriculum combines food science and business courses to prepare students for the sales/management part of the food industry.
