Company Information:
Our department has a three-fold mission of educating the next generation of Food Scientists, discovering new food technologies and applications of food products, and serving our state and national food industry through extension programs. Through this site, you will hopefully gain insight into how we approach each of these areas. We are a program with a bright future seeking to become a leader in each of our program areas.

The Undergraduate Program currently houses two majors: Food Science and Food Technology. The two majors allow students to focus their courses in either a purely science concentration or a concentration which includes a minor in business and management-related courses. The Food Technology concentration requires less science and adds business courses to prepare students for management careers in the Food Industry. The Food Science concentration focuses on the chemistry, processing and analysis techniques vital to food processing companies.

Assistantships and Fellowships for M.S. or Ph.D. students are available on a competitive basis. Students qualifying for Academy or Distinguished Fellowships receive $22,000 or $34,000 respectively, per year. Graduate studies in these areas: Food Chemistry, Food Biochemistry, Sensory Analysis, Food Rheology, Food Microbiology & Safety, Food Quality, Food Analysis, Food Processing, Food Engineering, Food Product & Process Development.
