Our Food Science and Food Biochemistry & Health courses allow students to study a broad range of fundamental science and to apply it in a focused way to the problems and challenges of the food industry: suppliers, producers, retailers, regulators and consumers. The Food Studies & Nutrition course combines the necessary scientific knowledge with the broader issues society and health, whilst Food Production, Business & Marketing similarly combines this with the business and marketing aspects of the whole food chain, from 'farm to fork'.
We currently offer four basic degree programmes in Food Science subjects, as well as several other joint honours courses in conjunction with other departments.
The basic programmes are:
B.Sc. Food Science: a three year programme at Leeds
Food Biochemistry and Health: a three year programme at Leeds
Food Studies and Nutrition: a three year programme at Leeds
Food Production, Processing & Marketing (FPPM): a three year programme at Leeds, split equally between the Procter Department, The University's Agricultural College at Askham Bryan and the University's Business School.
