Food Science and Technology majors are trained to pursue careers that may include food processing, food safety, product development, food inspection, food stability, or food analysis. Each Food Science student studies a core curriculum that provides a comprehensive look at all aspects of the food industry. You will be trained in food chemistry, food microbiology, food engineering, product development, sensory evaluation, and food processing. The option that you choose will guide you through a specific program of study. As a student, you can choose one of five curriculum options designed to help you pursue a specific career in food industry. Your advisor within the department will assist you in selecting the option which best fits your interests, abilities, and career goals.
