Job Description
Position Summary:
Manage the Buying and Merchandising function for categories and sub-categories of Seasonal Merchandise Products with regards to trends, competitive activity, sales, and gross profit to improve return on investment and market share.
Job Functions:
Develop and maintain Seasonal plan-o-grams tailored to specific store clusters or sub markets to appropriately merchandise products.
Maintain cognizance of product variety, trends and market opportunities and pricing structures/strategies to maximize profit potential.
Identify new suppliers and add/discontinue products to maintain a varity of products.
Interact with vendors to develop sales plans, co-op programs and promotions that meet both organizations' goals and objectives.
Develop and implement advertising campaigns for assigned categories to promote products.
Manage retail gross profit budgets in assigned categories.
Establish Retail Support Center and retail pricing guidelines, gross profit, sales objectives, and inventory turn objectives to maximize profit potential.
Supervise the performance and development of staff by communicating and providing feedback to ensure operation of the department.
Specific Qualifications:
*Comprehensive understanding of Seasonal Merchandising to include, seasonal time-lines, sourcing and flow of goods to include freight consolidation. *Experience in developing robust seasonal programs, while managing markdowns for maximum profitability. *Far East experience preferred.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Marketing or related field. 5 years experience in a buying/merchandising function. 2 years experience in a managment position at retail level is desired.
