Overview
The primary role of the Continuous Improvement Manager is to facilitate the implementation of teams to identify and eliminate waste from their processes and work environment. The Wrigley Company is committed to Continuous Improvement (TPM, Lean Manufacturing) principles which enhance work processes and output, that can lead to significant cost savings, improved customer service, improved quality and improved safety for the company. Background
The Continuous Improvement Manager reports directly to the Factory Director. The Continuous Improvement Manager has no direct reports but often has indirect development oversight over numerous project and team leaders. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating and educating associates in Lean Manufacturing/ TPM methodologies, specifically focusing on improvement of Quality, Safety, Waste Elimination and capacity improvement to improve customer service.
Responsibilities
Dimensions Dollar accountability and oversight ranges from $2MM to $10MM. Principal Activities Performed by the Incumbent: - Provides support, training tools and technical expertise as required to achieve Continuous Improvement Goals. - Co-Manage all Lean Pillars and serve as the main point of contact for any consultant support. - Works closely with department team leaders and managers to ensure focus is maintained and buy in is achieved to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are successful. - Conducts internal lean manufacturing assessments and develops improvement plans from assessments. - Identifies organizational issues through observation and data analysis. - Develop training plans to address organizational issues and continuous improvement assessments. - Ensures controls and metrics are in place and sustained to monitor progress of the factories continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 4 yr degree - Bachelors or higher - 5+ years of experience - Broad understanding of Supply Chain operations in a confections manufacturing facility. - Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization. - Excellent analytical skills and computer proficiency. - Ability to define problems and implement appropriate resolution processes. - Well developed persuasive and facilitative skills. - Broad knowledge and experience in a variety of problem solving tools. - Ability to engender trust and respect from all levels of the organization. - Ability to organize and prioritize effectively to ensure specified timelines are met. - Able to liaise effectively with corporate management, factory management and manufacturing staff in a positive manner. - Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. - Previous experience in project management. - Exemplary in the Wrigley Core Values and Leadership Behaviours - Demonstrate flexibility to meet changing requirements (this includes ability to work a very flexible schedule across three shifts and weekends of operation). - Excellent research skills and data gathering proficiency. - Assess implications of problem situations and uses resources to provide solutions. - Innovative / forward thinking. - An energized, optimistic ‘can do' attitude. - Excellent presentation skills that include high proficiency in PowerPoint and oral communication. - Skilled with multiple software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office).
