Job Description
The principal function of Safeway's manufacturing operation is to purchase, manufacture and process private-label merchandise sold in stores operated by the Company. As measured by sales dollars, approximately 22% of Safeway private-label merchandise is manufactured in Company owned plants, and the remainder is purchased from third parties. The Company also manufactures private label and national brand products for a variety of U.S. and international customers.

The Supply Operations Milk Plant, located in Clackamas, OR has an opening for a Plant Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervise production and warehouse crews. Utilize World Class Manufacturing techniques to drive operational results and other performance measures. Ability to coach and lead work teams to achieve performance, quality, cost and service goals. Ensure adherence to Safeway policies, procedures and practices. Administrative duties related to production, shipping and quality performance. Design, monitor, and maintain a safe working environment. Maintain a high level of customer service for retail and public customers. Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment. Strive for fast continuous systematic planned improvement. Travel 5% or less.

Qualifications: 4 year college degree in Food Science, Management, Manufacturing or related field preferred. 2-4 years experience working in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality and GMP’s Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility. Good analytical and problem solving skills. Proven ability to define performance measures related to the business and hold associates accountable for the same. Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs. Strong interpersonal, communication, and team building skills. Must possess the following traits: proactive, risk taker, change agent and strong sense of courage. Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Willingness to work evenings, night shifts, weekends and holidays.
