Area Director – Major Consumer Package Goods Co Northern New Jersey
One of the world’s leading food/consumer goods manufacturers has an immediate opening for an Area Director in their Ice Cream Division. One of the largest producers of some 400 packaged consumer goods, our client sells/markets food, household products and beauty aids in 150 different countries. Primary Objective Develop area plans in collaboration with team of Region Business Managers, Customer Development, and VP OOH Sales. Responsible for achieving agreed area sales targets within budget. Visit key accounts with RBM’s with particular emphasis on most important strategic customers and those performing below par or who are at risk due to competitive attack. Responsible for building a quality distributor network. Advise senior management on a regular basis regarding area performance and people issues. Participate in major sales presentations as appropriate. Responsible for regional sales office administration.
Duties and Responsibilities •Develop area selling strategies and budgets, supported by exceptional Distributor Management. •Ensure development and maintenance of favorable relations with distributors and end customers. •Help manage the interaction and conflicts within the Distributor Network for the area, including personal intervention as appropriate. •Update senior management relative to business, customers, and competitive strategies regularly; recommends courses of action. •Provide coaching and guidance to RBM’s to ensure their success in identifying business opportunities, developing programs and effectively implementing plans to grow the business •Develop and execute project strategies (e.g., pioneering activities) as agreed by Ice Cream Leadership Team Management.
Skills and Abilities •Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team to reach individual/team objectives •Strong project management skills. •Excellent customer service and communication skills. •Strong analytical skills, ability to look at big picture, while able to handle necessary details.
Required Education and Experience Education: Bachelors Degree Experience: 4-9 years sales management experience, prefer ice cream background Experience with Distributor Management and DSD operations. Required PC Software Skills •Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook •Will need to learn specialized support programs, Eureka and Freezer Mgmt System.
Compensation package will include a base salary of $140k - $150k, 30% - 50% bonus, additional incentive programs and the best benefits program in the industry.
