Job Description
Overview: The primary focus of this role will be in leading the ongoing development and implementation of Wrigley's descriptive analysis panel. Specifically, the scientist will train and lead the panel, tracking its performance against industry standards. The scientist will work with the Innovation community to develop references for the training and ongoing calibration of the panel while demonstrating creative solutions to engaging panel on an ongoing basis. The secondary focus of this role will be in designing appropriate consumer research to advance the knowledge of the product, package and process to meet business objectives. This will involve coordinating tests, interpretation of experimental data and providing technical recommendations, reporting results orally and in written documentation.
This person must work cross-functionally with PD, Marketing & Consumer Marketing Intelligence to develop a sensory/consumer research plan.
Responsibilities: • Solid panel leading and development skills a must • Working knowledge of discrimination and statistical analysis programs (e.g. SAS, ART) • Training and experience applying experimental design and statistics to sensory research including Multivariate Analysis • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects • Ability to interpret descriptive and consumer data and relate correlations that impact the business • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills • Demonstrated passion, flexibility and excitement • Experience with automated sensory data collection systems a must
Requirements: Key Challenges • Able to coordinate efforts cross-functionally to meet timelines and priorities • Communicates keys learnings to clients, as needed • Balance the application of "best" practices within the constraints of limited resources to meet aggressive business timelines.
Critical Competencies • Descriptive Analysis panel development and leading skills • Solid foundation in Sensory Science (both theory and application) and statistics • Solid understanding of application of skills to Product and Packaging Development • Strong oral, written communication and influencing skills
Knowledge & Experience • Degree in either a Behavioral Science (e.g., experimental psychology) or Sensory Evaluation • AS +4 or BS +2 years experience in R&D in a consumer packaged goods industry required. • Demonstrated track record of working as part of a team • Working knowledge of product development • Excellent oral, written communication and influencing skills • Ability to work independently and take initiative to explore opportunities to enhance and promote DA in the Wrigley company.
