Position Summary:
 
A leadership role that facilitates the entire process of program/project demand planning, prioritization, resource planning and project execution.  Responsible for data gathering and analysis that supports the IT governance, program/project portfolio, and capacity management processes.  Works to properly monitor and align program/project delivery through project statistics, benchmarking and budgeting. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the IT Governance process by establishing and maintaining an effective IT project portfolio management processes, that provide data for sound prioritization of the program/project portfolio.
  • Partner with the business and technology leadership in defining, prioritizing and achieving strategic objectives, defining short and long term objectives for projects/platforms under management.
  • Prepare a global IT resource forecast providing visibility to conflicts and/or opportunities.
  • Track that project portfolios are delivered as committed - on-time, on-target and on-budget.
  • Oversee collection of program / project performance data; report status and material variances to executive management.
  • Monitor portfolios for dependencies and conflicts and risk; facilitate resolution of scope, schedule and resource conflicts.
  • Conduct project phase gate reviews ensuring all required deliverables are complete — drives standards, consistency, and continuous improvement across the IT functions.
  • Coordinate portfolio change management processes ensuring all project scope changes are visible, analyzed, reviewed, documented and communicated.
  • Disseminate best practices, re-use, and lessons learned between projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of IT governance, portfolio management, and PMO processes.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with the internal and external requirements and standards for Quality, Regulatory, Finance and Human Resources.  Ensure SOX compliance and internal business control processes are a part of the IT operation.
  • Hire and retain a professional and knowledgeable staff, foster a positive team environment with a focus on quality delivery of the IT program/project portfolio.


  • BA or BS degree required, with a preference for Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Operations degrees; MBA a plus.
  • 7 to 10 years of IT Program Project Management experience, or relevant business or team leadership.  Experience in managing or working with a PMO organization is preferred.
  • Experience with projects in multiple technologies, functions and business processes; Consumer Packaged Goods experience a plus.  
  • Requires experience with systems development life cycle and packaged solutions implementations including requirements gathering, change management, quality assurance, and deployment processes.
  • Proven experience managing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work-groups.
  • Knowledge of outsourcing methodologies and operating models.
  • Program and project management experience within large ERP or CRM implementations, including lead roles as either program manager or lead project manager. 
  • Significant business interaction experience, including establishing and managing service level agreements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organization and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic team and fast-paced environment with continuous challenges. 
  • PM certification is preferred.
