Overview This position is accountable for assisting in Yorkville's production activities to ensure the safe and efficient production of high quality products, in a timely manner, to meet customer order requirements.
Responsibilities Delivering Production Performance Improvement- Employ approved resources (labor, materials, equipment) to effectively manage the packaging department, ensuring product availability, resulting in production to planned quantities, at the scheduled time and with in budgeted cost. Achieve continuous improvement in operating results as measured by safety, quality, customer service and cost metrics. Manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities, as determined by Manufacturing requirements, innovation activity and Customer Demand. Plan for, communicate and adjust resource utilization and work plans to meet business and plant requirements. • Manage detailed scheduling and ensure adequate staffing of work centers with capable people to meet capacity utilization plans and production schedules. • Perform detailed capacity utilization analysis to optimize wrapping operations, implement plans that improve flexibility and efficiency with in the department. • Provide technical guidance to Team Leaders and Maintenance to assure packaging equipment is operated at best possible efficiency levels and maintenance priorities are clearly understood and equipment maintenance plans are executed effectively. Coordinate Production plans to assure equipment receives required maintenance, and that the Wrapping area received required maintenance support. • Implement programs that assure products are made that meet Company quality requirements and product specifications, verify compliance with safety and quality production requirements. • Lead the continuous improvement process in the packaging department, ensure the use of Lean/TPM tools to deliver continuous improvement in operating results and the creation of an improvement culture where associates skills and capability are developed to meet increased performance expectation. • Develop and implement plans for innovation and capital project start-up, resulting in the achievement of operating targets. Ensure effective controls are used to achieve product quality and launch requirements. • Manage department in compliance to Company, Plant and government policies for GMP, Health, Safety, Environmental and Security. Leading and Developing Teams- Lead Wrapping salaried and hourly associates, communicate improvement expectations, provide required resources (tools, training, etc.) to build technical capability in the organization, clarify responsibilities, hold self and team accountable to expectations and goals, communicate results and develop action plans to address performance gaps. • Develop effective leadership capability within the Team Leaders, address leadership deficiencies with in the department, effectively use performance management systems (MBO, Factory Incentive Plan, performance counseling). • Establish and hold others accountable to high performance standards for efficiency and effectiveness, quantity and quality of work. • Assess performance and skills gaps in the department, implement action plans to address deficiencies and build upon strengths. Effectively use performance management systems (MBO, Factory Incentive Plan, performance counseling) to manage performance. • Establish a climate of effective working relationships with in the department and between other departments with in the plant. Assure effective communication and understanding of objectives, decisions and actions taken. Accept input to decisions from team members and others, provide feedback to keep the team and others aligned with plant and department objectives. • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement where team members seek performance improvement, understand cost, quality and service business elements and resource are managed to meet customer requirements, in a controlled and efficient manner.
Requirements 1. B.S. Degree in Business, Engineering, Food Science or related technical discipline; Master degree is a plus. 2. Minimum of (5) years managerial experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment; Food or consumer packaged goods industry a plus. 3. Technical background in packaging operations improvement, leading activities in operator skills and performance improvement, equipment reliability and efficiency improvement/ loss reduction. 4. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement Tools. 5. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. 6. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 7. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and lead work teams over 100 people. 8. Proficient in MS Office.
