Job Description
Overview Function

1. Develops, recommends, engineers and leads the identification, execution and implementation of initiatives to reduce business expenses on packaging and increasing production efficiency 2. Leads the identification of new technology ideas to drive additional cost efficiencies in packaging materials and systems 3. Designs and engineers innovative and cost effective packaging for chewing gum and confections from concept through commercialization 4. Provide technical support to manufacturing plants relative to packaging performance and issues resolution Background The Packaging Innovation organization is responsible for the development and implementation of all new packaging for the Wrigley Company worldwide. This responsibility is all encompassing and includes: 1) development of packaging innovation, technology and productivity roads to support the company's strategic objectives of growth & profit, 2) R&D leadership of the projects on these roads from concept through definition, development and commercialization, 3) maintaining package standards, specifications & best practices and 4) identifying and installing strategic capabilities and processes for innovation and speed to market. Dimensions The Packaging Innovation Organization has direct impact on sustainable growth and profitability at Wrigley.

Responsibilities 1. Project Management: Independently plans and leads/coordinates Packaging cost savings or development activities and timeline from Ideation through Package Definition and Implementation. Works with Supply Chain to develop a comprehensive Development & Commercialization Critical Path Timeline. 2. Cost savings Idea generation & Brainstorming: Identify, develops and initiate cost saving projects that include packaging redesign initiatives, package component consolidation, and production line efficiencies, working together with our Suppliers, Procurement and Supply Chain. 3. Technology Development: Lead the identification and development of new technology opportunities designed to improve the cost efficiency of package material systems 4. Cost Modeling: Works with Procurement, Supply Chain and Finance to calculate the potential savings for cost reduction projects and to develop comprehensive cost models for the new packaging. 5. Design for Manufacturing: Works with Global Engineering, Supply Chain and Suppliers to develop comprehensive transformation flow sheets of the manufacturing & supply process to ensure consideration for design for manufacturability. 6. Qualification & Validation: Works with Supply Chain, Suppliers, Quality, Regulatory to plan and execute comprehensive qualification & validation of the savings projects or new packaging. 7. Test Methods & Specifications: Develops test methods, establish or refine specifications, documentation standards and testing protocols relating to new packaging dimensions & attributes. 8. Customer & Executive Presentations: Provides internal presentations ranging from project updates to in depth technical reviews. 9. Deliver results / Implement Change: Successfully and aggressively challenge the advancement of the projects while reaching the deadlines and the committed savings. 10. Monitor results / Track achievement: Track the project implementation and overcome the potential challenges during the implementation. 11. Intellectual Property: Works with Legal to convert key savings ideas along with corresponding feature & attributes, material structures and manufacturing methods into a comprehensive Intellectual Property plan and resultant patent filings. 12. Technical support: Provide technical support to manufacturing sites working closely with Suppliers, QA, Engineers on packaging issues trouble shooting to identify the root cause and put in place corrective actions. 13. Packaging trends: Keep abreast to date regarding news from the market.

Requirements B.S. in Packaging and/or Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years industry experience in Packaging. The best candidate is a very high energy team player with outstanding leadership skills, results oriented, self motivated and flexible to responding well on priority changes. The individual needs proven ability to set up aggressively cost saving project goals, ideate and brainstorm again those goals, develop plans to implement them, deliver results, implement change, track performance and communicate the achievements. The Candidate must be extremely knowledgeable on packaging materials and should prove outstanding communication skills (written and oral fluency in English) and the ability to work in multinational cross functional teams. The candidate should have a solid foundation of demonstrated problem solving skills, and should have spent substantial time in the factory/plant environment.
