Production Utility/Call List Position - On Call 24-7, 1.5 hours to report to work.
"On Call" works the same way as a firefighter, the employee will receive a call at any time, night or day, to report to work. Once called, the employee has one hour to report to work. There is no set schedule, there is no guaranteee of hours. Normally when called in, the worker will work an estimated 8 hours. When a full-time position opens up, utility workers have an opportunity to bid on those full time positions, which include benefits.
This bakery runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Utility/Call List workers must be able and willing to be on call to work days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and to work overtime when needed. Utility/Call List positions require ability to be able to report to work within 1.5 hours after receipt of call to report to work unless otherwise agreed upon. When possible, Utility/Call List workers will be scheduled in advance to cover planned absences. On call status continues until a bid schedule status is obtained. There is not a guaranteed or specific time period for bid schedule to be obtained.
The Utility/Call List worker performs general production, shipping or sanitation duties as described below: (Must be versatile and able to shift from one job to another while working.)
Stacks and removes pans to/from conveyor belts. Aligns bread on conveyor. Removes bread from conveyor and places on racks. Loads and unloads racks from trailer. Places plastic baskets and trays on conveyor belts. Cleans area, dumps trash and takes bins to dumpster. Cleans floors, lights, windows, ceilings, rest rooms, break rooms, product racks, equipment, and grounds in various areas of plant. Disassembles and reassembles machinery.
Physical requirements: Must be able to sit (1% to 5%), stand (5% to 80%), walk (10% to 75%), kneel/squat (4% to 20%) and bend (5% to 65%) for approximately 8 to 10 hours. Must be able to lift up to a maximum of approximately 50 pounds from floor to waist, reach from floor and up to 10 feet, climb stairs/ladder, perform repetitive motions, using the hands/arms, use the back (twisting), push/pull using whole body and upper body. Physical demands for this job are defined as occasionally exerting force of 20-50 pounds, frequently 10-25 pounds and constantly up to 10 pounds.
Must be able to use gloves, putty knife, boots, uniforms, wrenches, mops, squeegee, pliers, channel lock, racks, dollies, plastic baskets, boxes, pencils and markers. Safety glasses are optional unless using an air hose/gun. Bump caps and hairnets are mandatory through out the plant. Earplugs are mandatory in production and sanitation.
Other essential abilities: Reading, writing, seeing, hearing, communicating, adding and subtracting, understanding instructions, basic mathematics, ability to use tools, ability to work at a rapid pace.
