Purchasing Category Lead - Dairy

We currently have an immediate opportunity for a PURCHASING CATEGORY LEAD - DAIRY to join the PURCHASING DEPARTMENT of our SUPPLY CHAIN DIVISION at our North American headquarters located in PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Define, implement, and coordinate sourcing strategies for the dairy category to meet internal customer needs and to obtain maximum value from suppliers to be validated by the Purchasing Category Director. - Is responsible for the application of the 7 step strategic sourcing process. - Establish and drive effective network with suppliers, internal customers and buyers to fully understand business needs and consider them when designing the sourcing strategies. - Lead negotiations for the categories and sub-categories he is responsible for under supervision of Purchasing Category Manager / Director. - Lead supplier qualification and define measurement. - Manage Requests for Information (RFI) with potential suppliers. - Structure the Request for Proposals (RFP) and assess results. - Determine the process for communicating RFP; communicate RFP results to suppliers and interested parties. - Build a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) / supplier ranking matrix.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or similar degree preferably in food science, chemistry or purchasing. - At least 3 years experience in purchasing dairy products with strong knowledge of purchasing and supply chain managment principles to include the 7-Step Sourcing Process (supplier industry analysis, development of TCO-models, procurement strategies, supplier selection, fact-based negotiations etc.). - Strong communication skills with suppliers and internal customers. - Good understanding of technical requirements of the raw materials. - Technical skills in computing and using standard software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Internet). - Good Knowledge of the food, chemical or fragrance industry a strong plus.
