Job Description
Very large Food and Beverage Manufacturing Plant needs a leader for their Technical Department!

Requirements:

  • Must have a BS Degree in Engineering and prefer an MBA
  • Must have the ability to manage change
  • Must have experience with Lean, TPM, Kaizen events, WCM or other similar continuous improvement tools
  • Knowledgeable in the principles and theories of mechanical, electrical, civil, industrial and structural engineering and facilities maintenance.
  • Must have knowledge of powerhouse equipment operations, refrigeration, air conditioning, carbon dioxide collection systems and air compressing equipment.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of Processing, Packaging and Distribution operations, and information systems and their inter-relationships.
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of techniques and principles of energy management.
  • Must have a general knowledge of state and federal regulations applying to air emissions, water quality, hazardous waste control and waste water management.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and blueprints as well as possess a general understanding of tools such as computer-aided design.
  • Must have a basic understanding of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating, capital and expense budgeting procedures and understand various methods of budget control.
  • Must have effective interpersonal, team building and participative management skills to motivate and develop subordinates.
  • Must be able to analyze reports and data for trends and establish plans to correct adverse trends.
  • Must be able to allocate and direct diminished resources to address multiple and competing demands.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of OSHA standards and plant safety rules and regulations.

Duties:

Manages, plans, coordinates and controls all engineering, environmental, utilities, buildings and grounds, and I.S. functions in order to provide a variety of services to all departments. Lead and direct a department of 50+ employees with 4 managers reporting directly.

  • Ensure the administration and maintenance of an effective Utilities Maintenance Program to provide uninterrupted services to the plant.
  • Provide pro-active leadership to ensure continued compliance in hazardous waste generation and disposal, regulated waste minimization and recycling, reduction in wastewater and air emissions, water and air pollution abatement, radioactive source testing and disposal, spill prevention control, asbestos materials abatement, and inspection and testing of pressure vessels, boilers, safety valves, backflow preventers, potable water systems, fire protection and sprinkler systems, and elevators.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of all environmental and associated regulatory reports, licensing applications, permits, surveys, monitoring and required inspections.
  • Oversee the implementation of all IS systems in the facility developed by Corporate Establish guidelines for the application of available resources and expected performance. Individual goals and other performance measures should be linked to the guidelines and the actual results. Direct subordinates in the identification and resolution of problems related to assigned shifts, areas of responsibilities and administration responsibilities. Manage the department in such a manner so as to maintain a properly trained staff in sufficient numbers to meet customer needs. Train subordinates in the performance of their job functions. Review their performance on a monthly basis and establish plans to address known deficiencies.
  • Establish and present expense budgets for approval. Provide documentation in support of proposed expenses. Establish procedures for administration and cost control. Ensure records are maintained in sufficient detail to allow for analysis with regard to costs associated with various aspects of the business such as quality, productivity improvement, etc.
  • Review facility operating schedules in an effort to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Develop and execute major engineering programs for improving operations and reducing costs.
  • Participate on various groups to provide support on technical issues, assign resources to address various performance problems, and coordinate the planning and scheduling of support activities.
  • Analyze reports and data to identify trends in operations and initiate steps to reverse undesirable trends and reinforce favorable trends.

Salary: $100K to $120K + 15% Bonus
