Job Description
SCOPE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for overall plant environmental programs, systems, policies, training, Federal and State Agency environmental compliance and audits. This includes water and wastewater treatment and overseeing the daily operation of the water and wastewater facilities. In addition, this person will assist the Safety Manager with coordination of the Safety programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Environmental Manager is responsible for all environmental matters at the Millsboro facility. This individual is responsible for ensuring environmental regulatory and company compliance in all environmental areas. The Environmental Manager responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead, coordinate, maintain compliance and take ownership of all plant environmental programs. Systematically maintaining all environmental records in an orderly, up-to-date manner. Assure compliance with all facility permits-air, water, wastewater, storm water, etc. Actively manage solid/universal/special/hazardous waste recycling and disposal. Maintain regulatory compliance with and oversee the operation of the wastewater treatment facility. Maintain regulatory compliance with and oversee the operation of the water treatment facility. Manage and maintain all required plans-SPCC, SWPPP, etc. Complete timely filing of all environmental regulatory reports-Tier II, Form R, DMRs, etc. Track, address and implement all audit findings. Properly handle and address all environmental regulatory Agency visits, inquiries and inspections. Maintain company and regulatory compliance with the proper handling and servicing of Freon containing equipment. Conduct and coordinate all environmental training-SPCC, SWPPP, hazardous waste, DOT, etc. Manage compliance of the DOT program. Lead plant participation in the company monthly environmental updates. Assure timely completion of all COMPLY tasks. (Plant environmental regulatory requirements). Assist with plant Safety programs and OSHA requirements.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This position has no direct reports. This position will lead projects and drive process improvements in the area of Environmental.

Passion towards driving continuous improvement in the areas of Environmental and Safety. Solid, current understanding of Federal and State Environmental Agency regulations and EPA compliance requirements and enforcement processes. Knowledge of Safety and OSHA requirements. Demonstrated ability to develop and direct pro-active environmental and safety programs.
Title: Environmental Manager
EDUCATION: Undergraduate Degree in Environmental or related discipline, required. Masters Degree, preferred.
EXPERIENCE A minimum of 7 years of increasing environmental experience in a complex, fast-paced manufacturing environment, required. Knowledge and practical application of risk-management techniques. Experience leading continuous improvement projects and initiatives. Experience working with a diverse group of people. Professional experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferred. Implementation experience with state air permits, storm water permits, and waste management systems, preferred. Management oversight of biological wastewater pretreatment systems and permit administration, preferred.
SKILLS/PROFICIENCIES: Demonstrate self-motivation and a commitment to results. Strong computer skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Ability to use innovative approaches and analytical problem-solving skills to resolve complex problems. Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple and complex projects concurrently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a matrix organization. Ability to quickly come up to speed on complex production processes. Ability to analyze data and information, and to make effective and timely decisions. Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
