Job Description
California based grower/shipper is seeking a Director of Sales to oversee the company's sales operations nationwide.
Key responsibilities include:
• Identify, develop, implement and execute Key Account Sales Strategies
• Develop, maintain, and improve business relations with existing and potential customers and channels of distribution
• Prepare and present business reviews and prepare and evaluate sales presentations
• Develop market strategies to capture distribution targets; plan sales and promotions, and manage volume/size distribution among accounts.
• Responsibility for developing and delivering regional “P&L’s” including sales contribution and expense management
• Prepare a variety of reports and correspondence related to sales forecasting, tracking, promotions, CRM, expense reports, budget administration, sales analysis, and internal reporting
• Negotiate long and short-term pricing strategies that meet or exceed budget commitments with customers based on sales targets, competitive environment, seasonal supply, and market demand.
• Manage, train, evaluate, and motivate sales staff; provide direction to the day-to-day operations of the Sales Department; monitor activities and assist with individual development, including setting personal and business objectives and sales/bonus targets; may assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new sales employees.
• Participate in industry trade functions, industry councils, and leadership programs to enhance to standing of company within the industry.
Requirements include:
Bachelors degree and 10+ years of experience in senior sales and sales management within the VALUE ADDED FRESH PRODUCE INDUSTRY. Knowledge of sales account and territory management practices; sales and marketing strategic planning methods and techniques; principles of budget development and administration; analyze profit and loss and other financial statements; category management; industry/territory knowledge of accounts and market dynamics; understanding of business operations and logistics; supervisory principles and practices, including goal development, work planning, and organization methods. Requires skills/abilities to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. Ability to analyze complex and changing market factors, evaluate alternative sales practices, and recommend or implement effective courses of action; develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and management controls; exercise independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines; prepare, monitor, and administer sales budgets; prepare clear and comprehensive records and reports; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; manage inventory requirements; plan, organize and evaluate the work of assigned staff to meet priorities and deadlines. Ability to operate a personal computer and other standard office equipment as well as appropriate software applications. Ability to travel extensively.
Compensation includes: Base salary at $150K - $200K (DOE), bonus, 401k, health insurance, vacation, car allowance, relocation possible.
