Job Description
Carbohydrate Chemist
Experience: Three to five years in research/product development of carbohydrate-based products
Responsibilities: Promote company’s technical leadership position in food ingredients, including healthy and reduced calorie food ingredients by developing new carbohydrate-based products. These may include modifications of polysaccharides of varying molecular weight from a variety of sources including but not restricted to starch. Primary functions to include product modification/development through a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of carbohydrate chemistry in a variety of applications.
Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge and/or experience in the chemistry of carbohydrates is essential. An understanding of structural characterizations, starch chemistry, enzymology reaction kinetics is preferred. Use of carbohydrates as bulking agents, flavor potentiators, texturizing agents helpful. Statistical product/process design and optimization as well as Scale-up and commercialization experience preferred.
Education: PhD in Organic or Carbohydrate Chemistry
