Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Product Development Chef works as a key member of the development team to implement new and improved products. She/he increases the culinary product development knowledge of the supporting team through continuous training, and functions as an expert, go-to person for the PD Team for culinary support our branded products. Must be capable of working at a fast pace under pressure and be able to handle multiple simultaneous projects. Other responsibilities include:
' Manage product development activity (design testwork, obtain re-sources, evaluate results with team and determine direction, maintain appropriate records of work) for concept through benchtop standard approval as established in the Project Brief. Coordinate the tasks of internal and external groups to meet project goals.
' Conduct testwork to support project completion.
' Maintain working knowledge of PD product formulas for all product concepts developed, includes those that may not have been taken to full commercialization.
' Create and implement culinary programs and training to inspire a passion for food on the Haverhill campus. Bring an external perspective that helps us to capitalize on current food trends. Provides culinary expertise in a partnership with R&D to help define new platforms. Culinary mentor to personnel within the department.
' Remain up to date on flavor and product trends that are relevant to the supported product categories and target customer segments.
' Play a lead role in the exploration process, along with Marketing, NAC and PD, to develop relevant products to capitalize on relevant flavor and product trends.
' Work together with Product Development, PD support, Purchasing and Corp Chefs, to continually search out new and novel ingredients to enhance overall product quality and ensure our product lines remain relevant with operators and consumers.
' Participate in factory scale up and startups of key new products developed by the team.
' Assist in training of developmental personnel of current and new culinary skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
' Certified Executive Chef (certification and accreditation as defined by ADF) from accredited culinary institution.
' 5 years Chefs (partial Pastry Chef / Baking) experience
' 5 years Executive Chef Experience (Management Experience)
' 3 Yrs. Development Chef experience, Retail Development preferred
