Job Description
Duties: -Responsible for the development of new products from concept to commercialization by applying knowledge and skills in food science, project management and business processes to complete assigned projects in a timely and cost effective manner. -Understanding of formulation structure. -Interact and develop relationships with ingredient suppliers. -Understanding of Rice and Snack processing. -Development/maintenance of ingredient specifications-questionnaires, Kosher certification, finished specifications. -Development of manuals-formulas, Kosher certificate (ingredient, finished products), processing parameters, packaging specifications (accurate and timely distribution). -Understanding cutting die design development. -Understanding the calculations required for capabilities/productivity through various unit operations. -Development of plant trial requests-formulas, specifications, Kosher certificates, processing parameters, batch sheets and production sheets. -Development/maintenance of packaging specifications. -Review proofs for film. -Die line specification development. -Film production support. -Develop the make samples as per Marketing/Sales requests; accountable to timeline. -Ensure proper feedback and support when necessary regarding product characteristics such as breakage, texture, taste and appearance. -Communicate well both orally and written on risks, i.e. Supply Chain, Logistics, Processing, Formulation. -Organize and present in an accurate and timely manner at pre-production and pre-trial meetings with all necessary documentation. -Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers. -Ensure that all proper analytical support is carried out accurately and timely; shelf life study, nutritional analysis, chemical and non-GMO. -Support of R&D and sales and marketing group members to ensure that they are supported in terms of product samples for customers. -Ability to learn and explain the rationale of historical formulas, and explain to some degree functionality of ingredients and relations to other ingredients. -Must be able to manage projects from concept to commercialization with some input from managers, exhibit skills of multi-tasking and meeting stated task timelines in a timely manner. -Understanding of necessary tasks and documents in gate keeping process entailed in product development from concept to on-shelf. Exhibited by cross functional managers getting all the information they need, i.e. specifications, formulas, manuals, in a timely manner and accurately. -Exhibits sufficient time management, project management, and project account management-required tasks keep to stated timelines, anticipated risks and issues (with ingredients, processing), on or under budget on project, plant trials. -Ability to handle 3-5 work projects timely and efficiently. Projects completed on schedule, limited follow up after launch.
