Job Description
Our client is a leading producer of retail and food service products with headquarters in a major metro area of New England. The business is well established, growing and profitable with annual revenues approaching one billion dollars. During the past year, the Company hired a Chief Operating Officer who brings broad-based experience from leading edge food and beverage companies. His charter is to lead the organization through its next phase of growth and development.
At this time, our client seeks a seasoned supply chain/strategic sourcing executive to join the Company in the role of Director of Strategic Sourcing. This person will have ownership of all packaging materials with an estimated annual spend of $100 million. The scope of this role will include the development, refinement and execution of sourcing strategies for all packaging materials (i.e. bottles, plastic, corrugated, etc.) and the enhancement of a national supplier network. This is a highly visible position requiring outstanding communications skills, a high degree of professionalism, integrity, energy and enthusiasm. The successful candidate will join an industry leader and have the opportunity to make a major contribution to its growth and position in the marketplace.
The most desirable candidates for this position will possess the following professional background, skills and qualities:
* A minimum of 10 years of progressive business experience in supply chain management, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, supplier development and change management. * Direct experience managing the procurement of packaging materials for a major, food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods company.
* An undergraduate degree in business, technical sciences, or related disciplines highly preferred; a graduate degree is desirable but not necessary. * Significant experience/knowledge of the supply marketplace to establish, develop and manage high performance supplier relationships with broad knowledge in packaging materials procurement to support the organization. * Proficient in procurement best practices with a passion for continuous improvement methodologies. * Ability to work as a team player with a “hands-on” approach.
