About the Culinary Manager: Giant Eagle is looking for a Culinary Manager for the Market District stores. This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of new and existing merchandising/sales ideas. Also included is the responsibility for the on-going development of specific department managers and leads which requires a strong commitment to on-going coaching and continuous improvement. This position is designed to enhance the success of each sub-department in Prepared Foods and thereby increase the department's ability to achieve overall profitability and promote long-term strategic growth of the entire Prepared Foods business. Responsibilities will include the day to day leadership of the Prepared Foods business, with specific concentration on the abilty to motivate, teach, direct, and counsel mid-level managers (Prepared Foods Managers, and Lead positions from each of the sub-departments at different locations). Essential Functions: • Actively provide leadership that promotes and exemplifies “passion for food” which includes possessing and teaching food knowledge, demonstrating food expertise, and the willingness to taste and experience new product offerings • Actively support a culture of safety which includes, but is not limited to, food safety, employee safety, customer safety • Execute business initiatives, monitor adherence to Market District policies/procedures and measure results as well as provide feedback by conducting regular store visits to ensure that Market District requirements are being met • Assist in the development of the Prepared Foods Businesses by communicating with the Merchandising and Training Departments and Store Management to maximize sales and profitability • Communicate federal, state, and county or local regulations by training managers on new and existing laws to ensure adherence to regulations • Participate in creating and implementing the Market District strategic business plans regarding the Prepared Foods Businesses to improves sales and gross profit, and provide feedback on the effectiveness of the business plans • Review and analyze store and line of business financial reports, customer satisfaction index, historical reports to improve performance in sales, profits, shrink, and labor controls • Maintain awareness of competitive activity and new trends in the business, and communicate ideas for improvement to both the Regional Business Manager, and the Director of Prepared Foods, Market District • Maintain audit lists, inventory reduction plans, and retail strategies to ensure the most efficient operation of the departments in each individual store • Promote the continuous development of managers and their Team Members, through coaching and mentoring • Participate in Market District openings as required • Lead weekly department meetings, as well as participate in “in-store” team meetings and/or regional staff meetings as directed • Conduct monthly Market District regional meetings to review financials, action plans, progress on initiatives, and new business • Conduct bi-monthly operational audits • Conduct weekly visits to competitors • Conduct bi-annual performance evaluations on managers; Requirements • 3-5 years of experience in multi-unit management • Degree in Culinary discipline (Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred) • Proven ability to understand and implement Prepared Foods processses and business plans • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, and control (strong managerial skills) • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service • Current driver's license • Proven experience in strategic planning, coaching • Strong ethics with a commitment to innovative management and inclusion/diversity Candidates not meeting these requirements will not be contacted.
