Essential Functions:
The Food Process Engineer reports to the Maintenance Engineering Manager and serves as a key resource to a wide variety of plant associates, outside vendors and contractors to drive improvement in throughout quality, safety and waste reduction. The Food Process Engineer is responsible for designing equipment, installing control systems and starting, running and upgrading the processes to accommodate Juanita’s food processing requirements as well as safety needs. The Food Process Engineer is accountable for solving problems, setting direction and achieving departmental goals and objectives. He/She must be fully committed to meeting manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, quality, production and cost.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Will coordinate/facilitate and assist Plant Leadership in the implementation of continuous improvement efforts across the plant Will coordinate/facilitate cost savings projects, process optimization, KPI improvements, etc. Ensure daily productivity, quality and safety goals are met and / or exceeded. Assess processes and engineering equipment for their relevance Designing and installing upgrades and troubleshooting existing processes. Preparing reports and charts as required Assessing the availability of raw materials and the safety and environmental impact of the plant Selecting, managing and working with sub-contractors Supporting the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations Ensure process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output in order to meet supply needs Work with other departments to achieve company goals. Ensure compliance with: federal, state and local regulations and mandates. Comply with and enforce all company policies and standards. Supervise, train and develop mechanics, electricians, seamer mechanics, boiler operators and maintenance helpers. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Associates Degree. Bachelors Degree preferred.
Experience and Background:
3 Years+ maintenance management experience in the food/beverage/dairy industry.
2 years experience working in a U.S.D.A. inspected facility
Experience with high-speed packaging, vendor and outside contractor selection and supervision, cost savings project
Experience with root cause analysis, energy cost reduction program and identifying and justifying capital projects
Experience with executing capital projects aimed at KPI improvement
Understanding of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance methods.
Technical background in electrical or mechanical disciples.
Experience in computer data entry.
Knowledge of Microsoft office programs.
Knowledge of MP2 Datastream or equivalent programs.
Excellent verbal and written skills in English, Spanish a plus.
