We are currently searching for a talented professional for our current opening for a Packaging Manager for our Irwindale, CA brewery.
Packaging Manager
Description: Plan, organize, direct and lead operations for the bottle and can lines in the Packaging Department to ensure efficient and cost effective use of personnel and materials in response to production demands. Ensure the maintenance of safety and quality standards in all packaging operations. Lead assigned management personnel and provide for the long-term technical and managerial development of all subordinates. Establish and maintain employee relations in the Packaging Department as part of fostering a suitable business climate for a multi-cultural workforce. Prepare appropriate budgets and standards, production schedules, and recommend appropriate staff levels to maintain operations. Coordinate with other managers as required to ensure the production of the plant is carried out in a cost efficient and timely manner.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in supervisory position in a manufacturing environment, preferably union. Minimum of 5 years in a managerial/leadership position guiding a salaried exempt workforce. Must have led a manufacturing organization in the areas of production and maintenance. Must have thorough knowledge in predictive and preventative maintenance.
Requirements: • Must be familiar with the various technical aspects of consumer packaging operations and its associated equipment.
• Must have a knowledge of accepted practices and procedures associated with the various processes.
• Must be well-versed in maintenance concepts for installed equipment including maintenance routines and practices.
• Must be able to analyze reports and recognize adverse trends.
• Should be familiar with practices related to establishing, developing, and controlling salaried and hourly staffing levels and the development of the associated budgets.
• Must have the interpersonal skills and managerial ability required to directly manage a staff of subordinate, technical managers while providing for their technical training and professional development.
• Must be conversant with the concepts of manufacturing such as JIT, World Class Manufacturing, TQA, etc., and be able to establish and implement plans for changing workplace strategies adopted by the company in pursuit of its business needs.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent education/work experience in engineering or related field. Additional business management education preferred.
