Equal Opportunity Employer (M/F/D/V) Responsibilities SUMMARY: As part of the Preserving & Entertaining marketing team, the ABM Innovation helps develop brand growth platforms for both the Casual Entertaining XXXXX and Fresh Preserving XXXX businesses. Leads consumer and customer research programs to develop key insights from which to ideate, develops the business case for expansion into new segments, and brings the plan to life through creation of new product development projects. Has high-level strategic interaction with senior management, and requires strong initiative and comfort with ambiguity. Works closely with the Brand Manager on both incremental innovations like line extensions / product improvements and game-changing innovations like entry into new categories. As project leader on several growth initiatives, this person will need great communication skills, sound strategic thinking skills, and solid experience with financials and forecasting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop growth roadmap for key Brands. a. Collaborate with Brand Manager to develop strategic plan and equity growth expectations for Preserving & Entertaining Brands. b. Liaise with R&D team members to drive alignment to objectives and key strategies. c. Set clear financial objectives for revenue and margin, and align senior management. d. Maintain marketing innovation budget planning, management and delivery of goal. e. Manage innovation business reporting, including monthly pipeline reviews and project dashboards.
2. Create innovation platforms for P&E Brand Franchise that drive revenue and profitability growth, and enhance brand equity. a. Identify opportunities and potential growth spaces for our Brands, and develop business case to pursue further investigation. b. Create and lead consumer and market research program to gain key insights to drive ideation. c. Develop new product concepts, optimize with consumer and customer feedback, and validate financial opportunity. d. In addition to NPD, also identify claim, channel, package, and business model innovation concepts to drive new growth. e. Lead NPD project charter creation and navigate cross-functional project teams through key NPD stagegate steps.
3. Drive alignment to innovation initiatives and lead their development through commercialization phase. a. Lead cross-functional project teams for key NPD projects -- in collaboration with R&D team lead. b. Develop all marketing elements of the new product proposition -- product specification, packaging, pricing, promotion, and channel placement, and validate these elements with consumers and customers. c. Take accountability for incorporating voice of customer and the Sales team in innovation plans to ensure retailer needs aremet and opportunistic NPD opportunities can be delivered quickly, effectively and cost-efficiently. d. At each stagegate milestone, deliver strategic and financial summary and recommendation to senior management. e. Maintain accountability for pipeline revenue value and timeline attainment per objectives set up front.
4. Be a leader in the organization. a. Raise level of understanding across organization of our consumers, our brands, and our innovation possibilities. c. Develop marketing and leadership skill set needed to advance to increasing levels of responsibility. Qualifications Requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related discipline and three to six years' prior marketing experience, preferably in the consumer packaged goods industry. MBA is preferred. Experience with syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen), category management tools, and shipment data (such as in SAP) a strong plus.
