Job Description
Job Summary: American Italian Pasta Co. is looking for a Human Resources Manager for our Columbia, SC location. The HR Manager will work to fortify the Human Resources foundation of the company and execute HR strategies, including talent management and leadership development. This role will be responsible for the implementation of Human Resources policies and programs at the facility encompassing recruitment, benefits, compensation, training, worker’s compensation, safety initiatives and organizational development.
Key Accountabilities/Representative Duties:
- Apply AIPC’s Human Resource policies and practices consistent with company policies. Oversee the process and respond to employee relation issues, investigation of complaints and formal process of resolution.
- Provide training and organizational development programs to enhance employee performance and productivity at all levels. This includes programs that will help employees achieve excellence in their current position while developing employees for future career growth and succession planning.
- Competencies for success in this role include compensation administration, employee relations, benefits administration, and recruitment. Strategic responsibilities will include providing input regarding operations decisions, planning organizational development, coaching the management team, and driving performance management.
- The role also provides the opportunity to demonstrate one’s ability to drive human resource strategies, programs and processes through a team environment.
- The HR Manager will foster a positive and safe work environment to drive retention, uncover key employee issues, will help to clarify performance expectations, proactively minimize employee relations issues and deliver targeted employee relations solutions and communications.
- Drive safety initiatives through all levels of the facility – including safety training, accident reporting and coaching on safety issues.
- Actively participate in Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
Basic Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- At least 5 years Human Resources experience within a manufacturing environment, with a solid progression in leadership positions.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing HR best practices within a manufacturing environment.
- Must possess knowledge and leadership in all functional HR areas including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development and compliance/legal issues.
- Experience with using Lean/Six Sigma/Kaizen methodologies.
- Possess strong conceptual and planning skills.
- Ability to understand and implement key strategic hiring initiatives.
- Operate as a strong team player with a customer service and safety mindset.
- Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions and the principles & practices of Human Resources Management.
- Experience that demonstrates an understanding of labor relations and union free tactics.
- Demonstrated competency in the areas of leadership, influence and negotiation, communication (both written and verbal) and both tactical and strategic thinking skills.
- Exhibit excellent judgment and maturity in critical thinking along with sound project management and interpersonal skills.
