Job Description
International fresh fruit sales and marketing organization is seeking a Port Director to oversee port operations at the Philadelphia terminal. Key job responsibilities include:
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers of logistic services to guarantee fulfillment.
- Efficiently control and manage the operation costs as well as provide information to the VP Executive in order to facilitate decision making.
- Supervise and assure the correct operation at the port on a daily basis according to company policies, while adapting these to the ships vessels to achieve our client’s satisfaction.
- Design the weekly loading and unloading of ships and coordinate the necessary resources to guarantee the timing of such execution.
- Direct the implementation and execution of projects, corporate policies, working plans that are issued from other departments of the Company.
- Identify business opportunities that can be incorporated by taking advantage of the current infrastructure the company has in order to generate additional income/profits for the the company.
- Give support to the commercialization of marketing and sales of freight.
- Represent company within the fruit importers in order to achieve agreements that facilitate the port operation.
- Interact with the ship captain to guarantee fruit quality upon its arrival to its final destination.
- Design the load container program in coordination with the suppliers and the corporate directors of logistics.
- Supply the necessary and complete information in case of any complaint or claim to insurance companies.
- Supervise and assure the fulfillment of the customs procedures in order to comply with the legislation and international trade norms of the US.
- Define procedures to guarantee total inventory control as well as adequate rotation.
Requirements: - Bachelors or Masters degree plus 10 years experience in Port Logistics Management.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in port management, including all topics related to customer management and USA trade regulations.
- Strong communication and computer skills (MS Office).
- Bilingual English/Spanish ability.
Compensation includes: $100-130K, 401k, vacation, relocation assistance possible.
