Major Function:    
Provide plant wide maintenance coverage, and to improve the reliability of plant equipment for new and existing utilities systems. Implement methods, practices, or technologies to increase equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs. The result of effective implementation is to increase equipment uptime and consequently gain greater productivity from capital investments. The position requires technical expertise in the refrigeration (Ammonia) field. This position also requires skills in Commercial HVAC, Steam, Wastewater Treatment, Fire Safety Systems and Compressed Air.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and perform preventive and predictive maintenance work orders to reduce unscheduled equipment failure. Track the levels of preventive maintenance activity to ensure an economic balance and re-evaluate frequencies of preventive maintenance as necessary.

  • Develop "System Responsibility" for a sub-area in the Utilities area that includes documentation of planned work, initiating PM's for new and existing equipment, perform run time Peventive Maintenance, co-ordination of maintenance and reliability work during planned downtime, recommending spare parts and stocking levels, conduct training for technicians.

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures to ascertain possible failure modes and participate with engineers, vendors, managers, and maintenance associates to improve equipment reliabiliy

  • Initiate meaningful work requests to troubleshoot, repair and modify plant utilities equipment.

  • Maintain diagnostic abilities, utilize analytical troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis to recommend and implement corrective system improvements.

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot

  • Ability to climb and work in confined spaces as required.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds is required.

  • Abiltiy to work rotating shifts to include days, afternoons, or night shifts including weekdays and weekends. Depending on business needs, transfer to other shifts may be required with little or no notice. Overtime will be required based on business needs.

  • Certify on the use of SCBA equipment and participate in the plant PEO organization

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Strong continuous improvement work ethic


Minimum Qualifications:


  • An Associates Degree or U.S. Department of Labor approved journeyman certificate.

  • 5 years technical experience maintaining Utilities systems. Hands on experience with Industrial NH3/Refrigeration, Commercial HVAC, pneumatic and electrical controls, steam generation, mechanical power transmission, piping and fluid systems

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Strong continuous improvement work ethic

  • Ability to influence and gain the support and respect of others.

  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot

  • Ability to climb and work in confined spaces as required.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing as much as 80 pounds is required.

  • Abiltiy to work rotating shifts as needed, to include days, afternoons, or night shifts including weekdays and weekends. Depending on business needs, transfer to other shifts may be required with little or no notice. Overtime will be required based on business needs.

  • Certify on the use of SCBA equipment.

  • Participate in the plant PEO organization.

  •  Successful completion of a drug and background screen


Preferred Qualifications:


  • An associates degree  accompanied with a U.S. Department of Labor approved journeyman certificate.

  • RETA Certified as a CARO or CIRO

  • 6+ years technical experience maintaining Industrial Refrigeration Utilities systems, with hands on experience with Industrial NH3/Refrigeration, Commercial HVAC, pneumatic and electrical controls, steam generation, mechanical power transmission, piping and fluid systems

     


    Company-paid relocation is not available for this position.
