Job Description
The senior engineer is part of the corporate engineering structure and plays a key role in bringing new technologies and process automation of Company manufacturing. He/She reports to the Director of Continuous improvement and supplements other members of the engineering team in the successful development and execution of Company capital program. With strong electrical and control engineering skills, the senior engineer will leverage foods processing equipment knowledge to lead manufacturing process design and implement equipment or process customization initiatives.
Primary responsibility and accountability:
- Development and execution of capital program.
- Preparation of projects, electrical engineering scope of work, interface with contractors in project work, provides field direction.
- Successful management and execution of capital projects, including management of project budgets and schedules.
- Perform and coordinate equipment specifications, electrical design, including power, process instrumentation and DCS’s.
- Development of engineering drawings using computer-aided equipment or other conventional drafting techniques.
- Interface with internal customers to develop equipment/process concept and work with OEM’s in the design and testing of prototypes.
- Lead development of new equipment or manufacturing processes and modification of existing equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Development and maintenance of design specifications with the objective of achieving standardization throughout the company.
- Troubleshooting of production/manufacturing systems and implementation of plant reliability improvement projects.
The successful candidate must have experience in the manufacturing environment. A minimum of 5 years experience and a degree in engineering, (preferably in electrical engineering) is required. Knowledge of PLC Programming and process control with Allen Bradley (Controllogix, PLC 5 and SCL500) will be a plus.
