Job Description
Pierre Foods, Inc., an innovative processor of premium quality beef, pork and poultry products, has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Regional Sales Manager - Foodservice. The candidate must live in the Greater Denver area to cover a 4 state territory.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for selection, supervision, training, and evaluation of brokers in assigned region. Primary responsibility for foodservice sales function in assigned region, either direct or through broker sales representatives (end user calls, foodservice distributor calls, foodservice promotional management, trade shows, etc.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Planning and Execution –Determine plan for foodservice sales coverage including broker role to meet foodservice performance objectives. Act as a point person for monitoring overall broker performance and global broker issues that are not school or foodservice specific.

• Determine volume objective for brokers
• Track and monitor objectives
• Train and work with broker to ensure foodservice action plans executed
• Plan and execute relevant distributor shows, foodservice association activities, etc.
• Evaluate broker performance in Foodservice and participate in overall broker review
• Participate in selection of new brokers when necessary 2. Direct Sales – Responsible for personal sales coverage of key customers in region.
3. Visibility in Foodservice Industry—Become active in relevant associations when advantageous.
4. Build strong relationships with designated distributors. 5. Participate in developing and executing the long and short-term goals of the SBU (new product ideas, marketing, promotions, cost reduction ideas, etc.)
6. Cost Management—Responsible for evaluating expenditures in region and assuring adequate return on investment (travel expenses, broker/customer promotions, trade shows, samples, sales materials, bid pricing)
7. Reporting—Responsible for weekly broker activity report.
• Responsible for monthly management information to be provided to Vice President of Foodservice
• Written follow-up/direction to broker network as needed. 8. Time Management – Responsible for efficient use of time (ex: Number of days or trips in each market, number of days in office). Spend a minimum of 75% of time in field (not including travel).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Product knowledge extremely important.
2. Demonstrated ability to manage (time, people, money).
3. Good decision-making skills
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Successful sales ability.
6. Rapid, effective follow-up on communication.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. College degree preferred (marketing or management a plus).
2. 2-3 years experience as Regional Sales Manager.
