Job Description
Director of Operations - Rendering
Responsible to the Rendering Operations Business Unit, primarily focusing on delivering profit and meeting the needs of Rendering Customers. This role needs to be the leader in technical and industry knowledge in Rendering. This position will require a high degree of strategic thinking, and building relationships at all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Directly responsible, with the Business Unit, for the EBITDA of the Business Unit
Provide influence to the Operations strategic plan from a Rendering Operations perspective
Have a global view of all Sanimax Rendering Operations
Responsible for technical detail and depth in Rendering Operations
Communicate current and future equipment capabilities and industry trends Impact and influence into the Rendering Capital Plan
Understand the inter-relationships between labor, maintenance, wastewater and energy use as they relate to cost and quality
Detailed knowledge to develop SOP's or spot holes in existing procedures Lead when needed rendering acquisitions and their integration into Sanimax
Impact and influence of the District Operations Leaders and their local Rendering and quality targets
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Agri-business or related field. OR significant track record of industry accomplishments
Minimum of 7-10 years as a Rendering, Engineering or Operations leader
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Recognized expertise in Rendering or high degree of potential to achieve
Leadership and connectivity skills specifically the ability to understand and achieve results with others
Strong command of all principles of business management, with emphasis on manufacturing operations
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles
Customer Focus and the ability to work in a Matrix organization
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Detailed analytical skills and problem solving ability
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, small and large groups Relationship driven
Project Management Oriented
Change Agent
Ability to plan, organize and strategize
Possess uncompromising values
Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office at minimum)
Able to travel up to 80% of time traveling to rendering facilities to transfer knowledge, build best practices and help in hands-on emergency situations
Bi-Lingual (French, English) desirerable
