In this role you will lead the strategic development, execution and monitoring of bulk cheese sourcing. This position will be responsible for the optimization of bulk cost, quality and service. You will work closely with Operations, Sales and Supply Chain to drive improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain. This position will provide leadership support to multiple production facilities. The role will also be responsible for monitoring global dairy markets and providing risk management support to both internal and external customers. This will include the execution of initiatives such as forward buys and CME dairy market hedges to optimize the results for Schreiber and our customers. Finally, this role will drive year-over-year improvement with our suppliers focused on cost reduction and quality enhancement.

Duties of the role include:

Direct the negotiation of pricing, terms, quality and service for materials purchased at multiple production plants Develop long-term partnerships or alliances with major suppliers Lead processes to purchase materials at lowest overall incoming cost Support inventory management processes Maximize inventory turn rates, minimize price variances and leverage accounts payable days Manage logistical issues such as fuel price changes, pallet costs, DC space optimization, etc. Drive improvement in cost and service throughout the supply chain Approve the selection of reliable sources of supply Audit supply locations for food quality, safety and bio security Monitor quality and management corrective action and credit process for outages Provide risk management support to both internal and external customers Monitor and evaluate market conditions for all major spend items Develop recommendations to management involving locked in prices or forward purchases Utilize CME markets to optimize the management of inventory positions Understand global markets and explore opportunities to build global strategic partnerships Manage relationships with Sales, Converting, Supply Chain and Suppliers to assure a smooth flow of materials and proper communication Provide active leadership at multiple converting locations This may include purchasing assistant and plant receiving partner management responsibilities Execute formal assessments for any applicable direct reports Support the selection, training, & development of partners Drive cost reduction and cost avoidance programs at the plants, providing improvement each year

A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Supply Chain Management, Risk Management, Business/Sales or related field Master's degree preferred Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management, operations or purchasing Thorough knowledge of Schreiber purchasing, inventory management, information and accounting systems Project management and control skills (planning, development, implementation, etc.) Advanced negotiating, selling, people impact sensitivity, and communication skills Proven track record of demonstrating technically based analysis skills Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities Exciting opportunities.
