Job Description
Supervision of the maintenance team covering three (3) shifts of operation in the processing, packaging, and warehouse areas by managing all labor issues, equipment breakdown repair, preventative maintenance, monitoring and control of all maintenance costs, and maintenance of a computerized maintenance management system. The objective is to act as a support function to the operations function to minimize line downtime, assist with process operation, and improve operational efficiency.
1. Supervise the Maintenance function and ensure that maintenance assignments are carried out in an efficient and safe manner. Troubleshoot plant equipment. Supervisor maintenance staff. 2.Set-up, maintain and be responsible for preventative maintenance systems, inspection routines, job scheduling, training and identification of plant improvement plans for improved efficiencies and yield. 3.Control maintenance expenditures in a cost-effective way according to the site budget for site repairs, resources ,direct labor, overtime and contractors. 4.Organize and plan maintenance work assignments appropriately within the required timeframes. 5.Champion TPM and safety objectives. Strive for zero incidents and ensure a people centered safety culture exists within the department.
This position has a very significant impact to the financial and operational success of the plant.
Challenges
1. Urgent and emergency machine breakdown situations around the clock. 2. Troubleshoot technical situations where the solution is uncertain. 3. Define tasks and responsibilities for maintenance labor and follow-up. 4. Lead the maintenance group in efforts to become more proactive vs. reactive. 5. Maintain efficient and timely maintenance activity keeping within budget requirements for total fixed. Costs. 6. Works various work schedules to ensure maintenance coworkers on all shifts are properly supervised. 7. Develop and maintain a maintenance team that is self motivated, capable of solving complex problems, is responsible for completing PMs, and work requests in a timely manner, and is responsive in working with operations team members to advance the TPM initiative within the plant.
Scope
Responsible for maintaining the blending and packing equipment in a safe and efficient mode as well as all of the supporting facility systems. This is a non-union manufacturing facility which utilizes a team based approach to operations. All plant coworkers are responsible for producing a high-quality low-cost product in a timely manner while ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
Skills & Competencies Please indicate the minimum skills and competencies required to capably perform in the position.
Knowledge Education: Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology or other related technical field.
Experience Five years related experience or equivalent in supervising or managing part of a manufacturing operation and/or 3-5 years in a manufacturing/engineering maintenance supervisory role. Experience in food manufacturing is helpful.
