Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Direct, coordinate and supervise the activities for all production departments. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overall responsibility for the Plant during shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include:
* Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments of machines.
* Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
. Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
* Responsible for safety of operations and equipment within department.
* Interpret job orders to workers, and assign duties.
* Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
* Recommend measures to improve production methods using lean manufacturing methods (six sigma preferred), equipment performance
* Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or work crew.
* Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
* Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
* Maintain time and production records.
* Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
* Confer with workleaders to coordinate activities of individual departments.
* Perform activities of workers supervised.
SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. AA Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 – 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent of combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
AUTHORITY: Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
NEEDED ATTRIBUTES: Regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
