Job Description

IS Administrator

TITLE – IS Administrator JOB SUMMARY – The IS administrator is responsible for maintaining a stable operating environment and ready access to all workstations and network resources in an MS Windows 2003 Active Directory environment. The IS administrator shall provide first response support to analyze and resolve technical end user issues in a timely and successful manner. This position is designed for personnel at the MCSA certification level looking for the experience to achieve an MCSE. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Provide first response technical support to users in a fast paced, manufacturing enterprise. - Perform routine maintenance of clients, servers, and communication systems, including administering user network security accounts, objects and services via Active Directory and Exchange. - Proactively monitor systems for potential problems and bottlenecks, ensuring timely resolution of operational problems. - Perform occasional server installations, deploy workstations and laptops, provide support on technical aspects for major projects, and assist in developing IS capabilities for the company. - Develop, maintain and test associated disaster recovery plans and Business Continuity Planning (BCP). - Maintain availability of all critical communication systems including 3Com VoE phone system, Email, Blackberry, Wireless 802.11, and B2B systems such as EDI and AS2. - Provide training to end user community, and document policies, instructions, and publish user information. - Assist in periodic, off-hours support, upgrades, and changes to network devices. - Support strategic goals of company and keep MIS Director apprised of important IS developments. QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum three years computer hardware and troubleshooting experience (A+ a plus). - Minimum three years of experience managing a Windows 2000/2003 client/server, Active Directory network. - Experience with Exchange 2003 and Outlook, Blackberry Enterprise, Windows 2003 Active Directory and Group Policy, MS SQL Server, Veritas Backup Exec, Symantec Enterprise Anti-Virus, MS SUS/WSUS, 3Com NBX-100 VoE, OS X Tiger for PowerMac G5, Macola Progression, EDI on Sterling Gentran, AS2, and MS Office 2003 are all highly preferred (MCSA preferred, an MCSE a plus, or any MOUS certification a plus). - Working knowledge of Ethernet networking and TCP/IP (Net+ a plus). - Excellent oral and written communication and skills. - Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented. Must be able to prioritize issues and focus effort appropriately. - Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time for self and department team.
