Job Description
Mezzetta Peppers and Specialty Products have been a Mezzetta family tradition since 1935. Now, G.L. Mezzetta, Inc. is the leading packer of pickled peppers in the Western U.S. Mezzetta Brand also offers a wide selection of olives and other specialty items for the retail and the food service industry.
G.L. Mezzetta, Inc. is looking for a Jr. planner/Buyer for its facility in the City of American Canyon, located in the Napa Valley. This position will assist the Purchasing Manager and the Production Scheduler. This is a great opportunity for a new graduate to start a new career in the food industry.
BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE
Will also assist the Material Manager with preparing production schedules for food processing production by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following:
Assists Material Manager to draw up master production schedule to establish sequence and lead-time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
Prepares production reports.
Maintain inventory counts as needed.
Process Purchase Orders.
Expedites and tracks shipments.
Computes total cost of items purchased.
Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries and resolves discrepancies.
Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates and places orders with suppliers.
Verifies bills from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and prepares bills for final approval.
Searches inventory records or warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity
Works with accounts payables and receivables as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Prior Food Production Planning experience or 2-4 college study with emphasis in engineering, or food science needed. Advanced Computer skills. Good Communications and organizational skills desired.
