Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Position accountable for directing, planning and coordinating all aspects of egg production. Responsibilities include overseeing the servicing of Contract Producers, to meet production needs and customer expectations, and ensure compliance with established SOPs, biosecurity guidelines, regulatory requirements, and 3rd party certifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.Oversee operation of Live Production department providing guidance and direction to Field Service staff.
2.Establish and maintain relationships with Contract Producers to meet the needs of the business while ensuring proper care and environment for the livestock.
3.Develop and oversee production flow and planning, from placement to processing. Direct capacity optimization within Live Production to meet current and future business goals and sales demand.
4.Perform analysis of flocks and equipment to monitor production performance; make recommendations to Contract Producers and staff on research or problem solving steps to correct or improve performance.
5.Participate in developing budgets, including capital plans. Ensure departmental adherence to set budgets and control the managed assets. Project and execute capacity plan 6.Responsible for development, implementation and enforcement of SOPs, biosecurity guidelines and other standards and policies to ensure production of highest quality product, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
7.Oversee the certification process, including preparation of documents and facilities. Compliance to all 3rd party certification programs. 8.Identify proper strategy for obtaining optimal production in head and weight requirements. Help Producers in troubleshooting production issues.
9.Assist in building design and equipment selection for new Contract Producers. Help determine appropriate disposal of farm waste, adhering to regulatory guidelines. 10.Provide technical guidance to consultants and technical staff related to performance or research projects.
11.Interact with agencies, university faculty and industry representatives on Live Production issues. Represent Egg Innovations at seminars, shows, meeting, etc.
12.Ensure cross-training in all areas of Live Production, including engaging staff in developing and reviewing SOPs, internal audits, environmental management, etc. 13.Promote staff development through conducting annual performance reviews, setting performance goals for subordinates; and outside training when required.
14.Oversee development and implementation of safety policy for Live Production. Enforce and maintain staff’s awareness.
15.Perform related duties as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Requires knowledge of production flow and poultry characteristics, including knowledge of all aspects of animal husbandry and production planning. Demonstrated experience in ventilation, sanitation, biosecurity management, as well as equipment troubleshooting and general maintenance. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. Experience in budgeting and cost management. Negotiations, leadership, communication and supervisory skills.
