Job Description
The Purchasing Manager/Director will provide strategic procurement leadership for Griffith Laboratories including the development of functional strategies and processes, customer relationships and strategic alliances. Key Responsibilities: ? Negotiating and executing contracts, pricing-supply agreements and as needed to support the critical business needs. Lead or assist in negotiating strategic contracts for Canadian and/or Global Griffith entities
? Develop suppliers and vendors as needed to foster a competitive supply-service environment.
? Identify cost savings and assist operating departments in their efforts to acquire competitive pricing on quality cost operating materials, supplies, and contractor services. ? Establish, implement and maintain purchasing standards to ensure quality project results, stakeholder satisfaction and improved relationships including assisting in developing a functional strategy consistent with the overall company strategy. ? ? Develop and maintain technical competencies to support business objectives. Maintain knowledge of industry trends through research, professional publications and participation in professional societies.
? Develop and manage the budgetary process for assigned categories and for the associated Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
? Communicate with internal and external customers on raw material issues and major pricing variances to the Operating Plan.
? Drive process solutions and have strong project management skills, .including developing market intelligence, understanding of competitors, products, services, strategies, people, strengths and weaknesses.

? Execute with excellence the principles of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Oversight of Key Quarterly
? Manage risk associated with the various commodity categories (Soy Complex, Wheat and Corn specifications). . ? Establish, monitor, and impact the Operating Plan budget through various tools (i.e., PPV report, cost savings, etc).
? Develop a detailed working knowledge of the ERP system and maintain requirements as it pertains to the Purchasing team and its internal and external customers/suppliers. . Core Requirements:
? Bachelors Degree in a business or relevant area, and ideally a MBA and purchasing designation (CPM or CPIM), or equivalent.
? Strong team player, yet able to work independently
? Ideally, 5-7 years in purchasing: Food or Beverage Purchasing plus 3-5 years of Purchasing supervisory experience including exposure to Commodity Risk Management
? In depth understanding of MRP/ERP systems
? Demonstrated negotiation experience including contract development and management
? Proven track record of designing and implementing of Supplier Relationship Management programs combined with proven cost savings background
? Successful management tenure particularly focused on the ability to mentor and develop direct reports.
? Effective communication and presentation skills to both internal and external entities.
? Self motivated, quick learner, organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to multi-task.
