The Processing Engineer will have full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating projects and assignments. The Processing Engineer will make authoritative technical/administrative decisions and recommendations on projects that support innovation and renovation efforts in the food and beverage network. The Processing Engineer demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems that arise from processing food and/or beverage products. The Engineer will work closely with senior management in developing strategies that help achieve the cooperative?s long term goals. Determines program objectives and requirements and develops standards and guides for diverse R&D activities. This role may supervise activities of assigned staff members.


The Processing Engineer will be part of a team of approximately seven engineers (Packaging and Processing). This role will initially focus on food products (Craisins and Sauce) ? but candidates must have the flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of products and projects. The ideal candidate will have some supervisory experience and have leadership potential. While this position is a corporate based research and development role ? the Processing Engineer will also be a point of contact for day-to-day support for several of our manufacturing facilities. Regular travel (30%) will be required.



Requirements:




  • Education in engineering, food science, or related field. Master?s of PhD degree with a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience or advanced degree with 4-5 years of related experience in the food industry.

  • Must have manufacturing plant experience as well as lab experience.

  • Must have strong leadership ability to manage projects, teams and individuals.

  • Data mining and management experience is critical and a background in experimental design would be ideal.

  • Experience with crystallized fruits, extraction of oils (soy bean, corn, peanuts, etc.) and drying experience are critical in this role.

  • Technical Communication: Effectively communicates complex technical information in a clear and concise manner, in both written and verbal forms, to audiences of differing technical understanding.
