Job Description
Position Summary: The Controls Project Engineer will have shared responsibility for major and minor electrical and controls equipment selection, contractor selection and cost as well as schedule implications for the project. All of this will require leadership skills of a core project team and outside resources to execute successfully. The Controls Project Engineer will be part of the Bradenton Tropicana team but will be required to be onsite for a period of time at the current project in the City of Industry, CA facility. The completion target date is mid-year 2009. This role will then transition to future expansions/enhancements of utility and control systems. The ideal candidate is a well rounded engineer that has experience with process and packaging system, from an operations, mechanical and electrical controls standpoint. Major Responsibilities:
• Lead cross-functional project teams to develop, analyze, facilitate approval and commercialize projects within Tropicana Supply Chain.
• Execute the final design, selection, purchase, installation and start-up of all utilities equipment to support the Naked Juice business.
• Lead in the development of controls and network architecture for both Process and Packaging Systems.
• Provide technical support in the selection of utility equipment for project requirements.
• Participate P&ID and Description of Operations detailed reviews and help to finalize documents.
• Guide Contractors in preparing Functional Description Specification documents and detailed reviews.
• Support FAT/Equipment Inspection prior to shipping for each sub-system.
• Support the FAT/Simulation for individual equipment and system controls, as well as integration between sub-systems.
• Participate in development of CQV Criteria and support execution of Commissioning Plan as well as drive commission and qualification of the process and packaging control system.
• Observe installation of process and packaging controls network and data collection system.
• Enforcement of standards and technology turn-over to operations.
Qualifications:
• Must be able to travel up to 70% and possibly temporarily relocate to support projects as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred in related field: mechanical, electrical, packaging.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with utilities, power distribution, OEM and programming required.
• Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
• Experience with processing equipment including line installation and startup.
• Solid understanding of supply chain costs as well as the profit and loss for a business.
• Ability to identify and drive margin improvement initiatives.
