Job Description
Under the supervision of senior Dept. staff, design, develop, conduct and/or review flavor creation experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) in order to deliver new, consumer preferred flavors for the company’s beverage products; evaluate ingredient, current product efficacy of claims; or evaluate new flavor ingredients, materials, precuts or processes.

Create, develop and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory testing) a working flavor prototype/sample against technical requirements, fit to concept or performance specifications (e.g., functionality and operational feasibility).

Record data from analyses or experiments in a computer, log book or laboratory notebook.

Design, develop, conduct and/or review experiments (e.g., laboratory or process experiments) in order to deliver new products; evaluate ingredient, product or packaging safety, efficacy or claims; or evaluate new ingredients, materials, products or processes.

Generate, document and execute a plan to select and/or develop technology (e.g., packaging, tools, processes, equipment, and products) including managing the change control process, in order to meet the project’s specific objectives (e.g., improve quality, deliver new products, and optimize processes).

Conduct review of scientific or other literature in order to maintain and improve laboratory knowledge/skill, identify appropriate analytical techniques for projects/studies, or gather confidential information (e.g., information on activist groups).

Design, fabricate and evaluate/assess (e.g., through laboratory testing) a working package equipment of product prototype/sample against technical requirements, fit concept or performance specifications (e.g., functionality and operational feasibility).

Identify, classify, maintain, and protect files, documentation and sensitive information consistent with record handling and retention requirements.

Write detailed and accurate reports for analyses, experiments or projects (e.g., equipment validation, evaluation of new processes).

Prepare samples and sampling plan for ingredients, intermediate of finished products, or other materials in order to perform analyses (e.g., chemical, physical, sensory, microbiological).

Identify, research and evaluate new developments or trends in beverage-related industries, technologies or materials (e.g., packaging, equipment, products, processes) using various methods (e.g., scanning databases, tracking market trends, software) in order to recommend new courses of action.

Gather and organize information to support senior management’s decision-making during a crisis situation.
