Job Description

As the Manager, Compensation for Hill's Pet Nutrition, you will will design and implement compensation plans which support the Company’s overall Compensation Strategy and ensure they are administered in accordance with Company policy and Plan designs. You will also consult with management and HR Directors on Compensation issues related to base pay, incentive plans, and expatriate compensation and ensure all records necessary for legal compliance are maintained for all compensation plans administered by Hill’s. Responsibilities include: Base Pay & Salary Administration • Develop and administer the Company’s Market Pricing Job Evaluation System for all positions to ensure internal equity, consistency with Colgate and market competitiveness. • Develop and ensure consistent application of the Company’s Salary Administration Guidelines, ensuring employees are paid equitably within the organization and market. • Provide information and tools needed by managers to develop and administer merit budgets. Review budgets for consistency with policy and equitable treatment of employees across the organization. Obtain upper management approval of merit budgets. • Through effective communication tools, ensure all Hill’s employees understand the Company’s compensation philosophy and plans and ensure that managers understand how to administer them. • Work with HR Generalists and Sr. Management as a consultant and advisor to maintain organizational consistency and help drive behavior through proper use of company programs. Incentive Compensation and Perquisites • Consult with management on bonus plan designs, documentation and implementation. • Manage the timely calculation and payment of EICP, Management and Exempt bonuses and the Staff Support Bonus Plan. • Review bonuses paid by all units to ensure they are according to plan documents. • Work directly with Colgate-Palmolive Global Compensation with respect to satisfying reporting needs on EICP, including periodic estimates, calculations, headcount justifications, etc. • Manage annual Stock Option Award program from recommendations to distribution. Provide Colgate-Palmolive Global Compensation with requested information in a timely manner. • Administer the Company’s Deferred Compensation Program which includes conducting annual enrollment, calculating and generating annual statements to participants, ensuring that elections are processed with the guidelines of the Plan, and liase with Finance regarding accounting issues. Expatriate Compensation • Consult with Hill’s Benefits & International HR and Colgate-Palmolive International Compensation on offer preparation, policy interpretation and administration issues. Help facilitate information flow necessary for effective administration. • Ensure that policy and legal guidelines are understood and followed to manage expatriate costs. • Work with Colgate-Palmolive International Compensation on any design and administration changes. Basic qualifications: • BS Degree with Business or Human Resources related Major. • 5+ years experience in design, administration and management of Compensation. • Sound knowledge of Personal Computer spreadsheets, word processing and graphics packages. Preferred Qualifications: • Strong influence and negotiation skills; will work closely with Sr. Management to influence change. • High degree of analytical skills. • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation.
