As a Controls Engineer for Hill's Pet Nutrition, you will work in a friendly, team-oriented environment producing the industry's leading premium dry dog and cat food. The core responsibility of the Controls Engineer is to lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the plant floor control systems, information systems and networks in support of the manufacturing operations. Specifically, this position leads the following key functions: Responsible for the design, specification, development, installation, start up, troubleshooting, and improvement of process control systems, plant floor systems, business systems, and equipment through the application of the PSI/CQV process.
Prepare, submit, and manage controls technology and information technology aspects of the Capital Expenditure Budget and support project managers in achieving project deliverables
Develop functional specifications
Manage internal and external resources (Software integrators, hardware support)
Project schedule and scope adherence
Project cost controls
Technology transfer
Start-up and troubleshooting
Develop and maintain specifications, technical documentation, and procedures for controls processes and equipment which are consistent with KPI goals and support Quality and EOHS Standards.
Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of plant-wide information systems in accordance with company global standards
Leadership and management of Electronic Technicians and Information Technology Technicians
Develop new insights and drive innovative engineering and controls solutions

Basic Qualifications:
BS in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) Five to ten years engineering experience Minimum of three to five years experience in food manufacturing with an emphasis on project management/engineering from project concept through implementation Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience of the CEB Capital Procurement Proven Project and Contract Management experience A working knowledge of production processes and control systems to include PID control tuning
Preferred Qualifications: Previous supervisory experience Teamwork orientation with excellent interpersonal and team development skills Strong technical communication skills Strong time management and follow-up skills Must be able to take initiative and effectively utilize data based decision making processes Technical requirements: The successful candidate will have proven demonstrated experience in most or all of the following areas:
Electrical power distribution. Motor Controls (Variable Frequency Drives, Standard Motor Starters, ...)
