SUMMARY: Under the Direction of the Sr. Brand Manager – New Products, the Associate New Products Manager manages new product platforms and values-centered marketing plans for the domestic business. This includes leading cross-functional teams in the development of new products and related activities including business analysis, channel development and marketing and trade programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Develop and manage the implementation of new product initiatives in partnership with Brand Building, Sales and R&D that fulfill company strategies, support the social mission, and meet financial objectives for sales, gross margin and profitability. •Manage the Unilever Innovation Process Management (IPM) system including preparing and maintaining project business cases, developing summary reports, and creating financial analysis. (IPM is the common set of process disciplines, terminology and IT tools by which Unilever brings innovation to the market.) •Generate product/project objectives, goals, and timelines and work cross-departmentally to ensure that key milestones are met and goals achieved. •Provide business insight to facilitate marketing program/product development through reporting, analyzing, and/or synthesizing syndicated data, competitive intelligence, and consumer research. •Recommend new products and marketing programs that build brand equity and fulfill marketing and financial objectives. Assess the needs, opportunities, and risks associated with these initiatives through research and feasibility analysis. •Collaborate with Integrated Marketing, Retail, Brand and PR teams in the development of effective and compelling marketing programs that support and extend brand equity, leverage learning, and meet stated marketing, business and financial objectives. •Work closely with Design to ensure brand equity is effectively and consistently extended to new packaging, POP, promotions and advertising materials. •Collaborate with Consumer Research Manager in the design and interpretation of consumer research. Utilize results in planning efforts. •Exhibit commitment to the brand's social mission and Marketing's vital role in delivering all three elements of Ben & Jerry's three-part mission statement. Work with the Social Mission team to integrate the social mission into individual marketing plans. •Effectively coordinate with business functions (R&D, Design, PR, Consumer Research, Operations, Legal) and outside vendors by providing product/project objectives, parameters, & ongoing feedback. •Manage the successful transition of new products to the Brand team according to specified criteria & timing.
