Job Description
Position Summary: To provide electrical, controls and automation support to plant process, packaging and utility operations. To support Plant Maintenance and Operations teams in system and equipment troubleshooting and in technology transfer. To serve as the liaison between Tropicana Plant and Corporate Engineering in regards to automation and system integration. To assist Corporate Engineering and Plant engineering with electrical and controls projects.

Major Responsibilities: Support Plant electrical and controls projects in the Packaging, Juice Operations, Fruit Operations and Utilities areas, to confirm consistency with Manufacturing standards and control philosophies. Engineering projects shall:

Enhance the Quality of Tropicana’s products, reduce customer complaints and insure compliance. Improve the Quality of Job Life through improvements in ergonomics, ventilation, noise control, and other means to enhance worker comfort.

Improve productivity through efficiency gains, yield improvements, labor utilization, and other rate improvements.

To trouble shoot and diagnose issue related to PLC and MMI programs.

To facilitate technology transfer from Corporate Engineering, R&D and the Manufacturing Engineering Team to the Manufacturing Operations and Maintenance Teams insuring proper startup and training plans. Train electricians and instrumentation technicians on new technology to allow proper maintenance and trouble shooting.

To actively develop and implement cost savings initiatives involving waste minimization, productivity improvements and other process optimization opportunities through an active partnership with Manufacturing’s maintenance and operation teams. Assign work and set work schedules. Guide employees on a day-to-day basis by interpreting and explaining policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical engineering required. Emphasis in industrial controls and automation preferred. Three to five years automation and control engineering experience in a plant, corporate engineering or related experience in a consumer product manufacturing environment required, preferably food or beverage. Electrical and Controls Design Engineering experience required.

Special process control experience in Packaging, Process or Utilities required

Familiarization with OSHA, USDA, FDA and EPA requirements. PLC programming proficiency, HMI software proficiency and proficiency with on-line data archiving required. (Wonderware, In-touch, Industrial SQL, Panelview, Factory Office, NT Server)

Process optimization experience and process troubleshooting.

Knowledge and use of: data highways, Contrologix gateways, and Ethernet and fiber-optic systems requierd.

Proficiency in multiple engineering disciplines including electrical and controls.

Proficiency with PC software – Excel, Word, Power Point and Project Management.

Equipment evaluation and selection experience required.

Knowledgeable in process controls and facility electrical distribution.

Maintenance or production management experience preferred.
