REQUIREMENTS

Assists the Director of Purchasing in developing the short and long term strategy for assigned category, and serves as category expert.
Leads and assists other Buyers and Sr. Buyers in the strategic sourcing process and overall supplier management.
Leads continuous improvement projects including supplier performance, cost savings, and quality enhancements.
Forecasts and tracks market conditions and costs; communicates same with all applicable departments and business units of The Schwan Food Company. Utilizes commodity risk management tools and processes to optimize commodity purchases.
Maintains a close working relationship with all departments and business units of TSFC, including manufacturing, sales, marketing, purchasing, R&D, FSQ, and Logistics.
Manages all aspects of the supplier relationship, selection, quality cost, service, innovation, and continuous improvement. Negotiates long term contracts and manages an annual budget of greater than $250 Million.
Brings ideas and new technology to the attention of the business units and SGSC that will lower total cost, enhance product quality and/or convenience and facilitate new product opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Years of related experience: 8-10 years related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Intermediate PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Intermediate proficiency in data generation from electronic systems. Intermediate numeric analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing via reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference, and volume. Good communication skills both verbally and in writing. The ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, achieve objectives, manage confidential information and work cooperatively in groups.
