Job Description
Our client is a large ($1B+) food manufacturing company. We are looking to hire a Staff Engineer for our plant near Baton Rouge who has good mechanical or packaging engineering experience and some managerial experience. Engineering degree required. Prior experience with foods, chemicals, or pharmaceuticals is desired.
JOB SUMMARY: Provide engineering and technical support to all departments in the plant. Monitor daily energy usage and compare to goals. Develop energy conservation projects and associated energy savings. Manage plant capital projects. Supervise 5 employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Monitor energy performance on a daily basis and prepare daily energy usage reports. Review/analyze usage compared to past performance and future goals. • Review, discuss and pursue resolutions to plant operating problems requiring engineering solutions. • Prepare calculations on energy usage and projected energy savings on various projects. • Responsible for managing capital project design, construction and control of related spending. • Responsible for the preparation of the capital project budget. • Review and approve requisitions for the purchase of material, equipment, labor, etc. for capital projects. • Attend daily staff meetings. • Attend weekly shutdown meetings. • Required to report physically to the prime work location. May be required to visit other company facilities.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. • 8-10 years in plant/project engineering. • Supervisory experience preferred. • Proficient in MicroSoft applications. • Proficient in AutoCad. • Knowledge of plant operations and equipment. • Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements/regulations. • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
