Job Description
Company/Product: A leading, $400M nationally-branded food manufacturer and distributor is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer due to rapid growth and product diversification. Position is located on the west coast in a rural area with desirable cost of living, natural beauty and quality of life, as well as close proximity to a major metropolitan area with cosmopolitan amenities. Recent long term strategic planning and new product development has continued to contribute to double digit growth in annual sales and EBIT profit margin

Job Description: The Manufacturing Engineer is part of the corporate engineering organization and plays a key role in the optimization of manufacturing floor systems and processes. The incumbent to this position demonstrate a superior degree of technical skill and knowledge in the areas of process variation reduction, six sigma and lean manufacturing. This position will be responsible of the transfer of skills to the facility manufacturing team’s teams and help build sustainable plant internal capabilities in the plants as well identify cross functional cost savings opportunities throughout the enterprise.

Position duties and responsibilities:

• Assessment of process flow with identification and resolution of bottle necks • Productivity management through improvement of overall equipment effectiveness and asset utilization. • Improvement of raw and packaging material yields through process loss points identification and resolution, material balances and process analysis. • Improvement of material yield through weight control • Develop/implement SPC methodology with manufacturing process • Development of process standards through work measurement. • Optimization of production line performance through line balancing analysis. • Identification of best practices and facilitation of knowledge transfer between facilities. • Perform process and value stream mappings in supply chain • Perform ROI and other cost/benefit in support of capital projects • Facilitate process variation reduction exercises • Lead labor optimization analysis • Validate standards and manufacturing run rate for new products/sku’s introduction

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably manufacturing or industrial engineering).

Experience: • Minimum of five years relevant experience in manufacturing environment • Deep understanding and experience in use of lean manufacturing tools (process mapping, Kaizen, waste reduction, etc) • Six sigma certification is a plus .
