Job Description
SCOPE OF JOB: The Process Optimization Engineer is responsible for creating, developing and implementing standard operating procedures across energy plant and refining processes. The PO Engineer will model, test and modify existing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technologies to optimize energy and refining efficiencies. He/she will train and mentor operators and engineers in best practices to ensure critical automatic, safety systems are in place. The position will be responsible for leading and developing Six Sigma initiatives across power plant and refining operations to reduce energy, improve yield, reduce waste, raise quality and elevate productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Measure, analyze and recommend changes to production processes. • Develop and lead capital projects with significant economic returns. • Create process models of current and future states. • Champion and lead Six Sigma performance improvement projects. • Modify, change or improve stand alone PID controllers and DCS systems. • Conduct frequent engineering audits to test for systems response to disturbance and variances in inputs and outputs. • Create steady-state simulations of control loops and algorithms to stimulate plant behavior and analyze results. • Assist with development of R&D field trials and studies in refining processes - may act as local R&D coordinator. • Develop workflow systems and methodologies. • Support creation and development of "visual factory" tools. • Required to report physically to the prime work location; may be required to visit other company facilities

POSITION SCOPE Define and manage process specific capital projects. Develop and report manufacturing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, yield, waste, costs etc.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge: B.S. in Engineering is required.

Experience and Qualifications: Must have at least 7 to 10 years of successful, comprehensive experience in manufacturing continuous processes field. Six Sigma Black Belt certification required. Control simulation software experience (e.g. from Aspentech family) required. Chartered/Professional Engineer license preferred.
